An unforgettable event
On June 4th and 5th 2011 The Dutch hosted a most unique event: the Fourth Annual DICK-cup. The battle for the DICK (the Dutch-Irish Closed Kampioenschappen) had previously been hosted by other worthy golf courses (it was started at Loch Lomond), but with The Dutch open for business, it could only be held in one place: Spijk!
The event started with ‘Fine Dining’ at The Dutch on Friday night. I am sure that the five course meal with accompanying wines contributed to the amazing scores the next day, Saturday, which started with a sumptuous breakfast at The Dutch. Some ball were hit at the driving range, as well as the chipping and putting grounds. Not too many, because we didn’t want to waste all our good swings of the day. The first day’s battle between the Irish and Dutch teams was fought in sweltering heat on the gorgeous golf course of The Dutch, which most impressed our Irish friends. At the end of the day, two Dutch contenders were leading the fray, each with 28 Stableford points. Yes, the course is that difficult! The day was finished with drinks on the beautiful terrace and a fun evening in the Spijk Bar.
Sunday the battle continued after another spectacular breakfast. The weather was beautiful for a round of golf, although surprisingly few people shared the course with us. So few, that we even had a chance for a glass of wine with our lunch at the turn. The beautiful back nine are difficult under any circumstances, but doubly so after a glass of rose, I’m afraid to admit. The game of one of our contenders collapsed, and Marcel Polak was victorious for the Dutch! The Prize Giving Ceremony was held during a private dinner in the Library, which gave a special ambiance to our event. Of course the evening ended in the Cigar and Whisky Lounge, so my memories of that part of the evening are a wee bit vague…
We extend a warm ‘Thank you!’ to all members of the staff of The Dutch who made our Fourth Annual DICK-Cup an unforgettable event!

A great success
Thanks you so much for all your help at the Monty Day – it has gone down as a great success!
You and the whole team at the Dutch were fantastic.
Thanks you once again.

'Onnederlands' hoog
The Dutch blinkt uit door haar ongekend hoge ambitie- en serviceniveau, dat is 'onnederlands' hoog, daarom ben ik lid geworden en tot nu toe voldoet The Dutch helemaal aan mijn verwachtingen.

It is a rare moment in life when you find heart soul and passion in one place.
"The Dutch does not have a clubhouse it has a home for your clubs"
Having been involved in the build and design of Loch Lomond golf club I have to say that I think The Dutch has surpassed Loch Lomond and the reason is the passion for golf. From the moment you enter The Dutch: the 18th century damask wallpaper, the modern Scottish tartan in the cocktail bar, the history of golf on the re-created prints it would be very hard to leave. Even if you had a bad round of golf you would still leave with a history lesson in golf and feel the passion shared by all who have involved in the birth of The Dutch.
From the 17th century pieces of furniture dotted around the clubhouse to the wonderful fireplaces. Working with David Burnside has re-ignited the passion and drive to create something that will become part of history in golf. Having met some of the Professionals from The Dutch and Made in Scotland and seen how they share the dream and passion for The Dutch, it not only gives me goose bumps it gives me food for my soul. Thank you all for allowing me to be part of your dream. The only thing I can do now is put the cherry on the top.
